The Boston Celtics look to rebound from a game 3 loss to the L.A. Lakers tonight in game 4 of the NBA Finals. The Lakers beat the Celtics 91-84 with 29 points from Kobe Bryant and a clutch 4th quarter performance from Derek Fisher(11 points). After shredding the Lakers in game 2, Ray Allen was a no show in game three shooting a dismal 0-13 from the field. Paul Pierce continued to struggle with his game shooting 5-12 from the field for 15 points. Kevin Garnett played better than the first two games scoring 25 points in 32 minutes. This has been a good series so far between two evenly matched teams. The officiating hasn’t been that good, but the players have to adjust and play through it. The key for the Celtics to win tonight are: 1. Paul Pierce has to stay out of foul trouble so he can be aggressive going to the basket on the offensive end. 2. The Celtics need to get stops and keep the Lakers off the offensive glass so they can get out in the open court and get some easy baskets. 3. Ray Allen can’t have a repeat performance of game 3, he doesn’t have to have a game 2 performance again…..but he can’t go 0-13 and expect his team to win.
The keys for the Lakers to win game 4 are: 1. Not settling for too many 3 point shots. The 3 point shot hasn’t been kind to the Lakers this series and they should not take more then 10 to 15 tonight. 2. Gasol, Bynum, and Odom. When these three have a good games on both ends of the court the Lakers can be unbeatable. In game 3 they combined for 34 points and 25 rebounds. 3. Keep up the good defense on Allen and Pierce. They are great players and are bound to make shots, just continue to make them work.
Before this series started, I made a prediction that the Lakers would win this series in seven games. That being said the Celtics win game 4 tonight and tie the series up 2-2. Also for you gambling fans the celtics will cover the 3 1/2 points too.
