The Phillies got their three time all-star shortshop Jimmy Rollins back in the lineup after missing the last 29 games with a calf injury. He was at his usual position of shortstop and batted third in the lineup because Chase Utley was sent home with flu-like symptoms. Rollins picked up right where he left of before the injury, going 2-4 with a double and a RBI. Kyle Kendrick pitched eight strong innings striking out four , while giving up 2 runs on five hits. Ryan Howard provided a bulk of the offense for the Phillies knocking in six runs, four of them coming from an 8th inning Grand Slam. The Phillies 24-13, have won 8 out of their last 10 games and have a five game lead in the N.L. East over the Florida Marlins and Washington Nationals.
